Mudhoney Morning In America EP review

Mudhoney are back with Morning In America, the new so by the grunge rock legends. One of the smaller bands that didn't get huge like Soundgarden or Nirvana, perhaps that's why they are still around. With Stooges influenced garage punk with that muddy guitar tone, this is classic Mudhoney.

Vortex of Lies starts us off with a slow survey riff full of fuzz and feedback. Has a waltz like vibe with brilliant lyrics. Has a slight stoner rock vibe. Totally rad. Very raw production. Creeps Are Everywhere is upbeat and fun. Very groovy.

Ensam I Naft is reminiscent of Into The Drink sounding, the only cover on the ep. Some sweet synth wooshes. Side 1 ends with the title track Morning In America. Very good. Slower but vibey. The opening line 'America hates itself.' Wow, fuckin profound. There are a lot of ills in our society, and they talk about it. Such a strong song, reminiscent of If I Think.

Side 2 begins with Let's Kill Yourself Live Again, a hell of a title. And it really sounds like it czme out in the mid to late 60s. Great hook and riffs. A brilliant song about that politician that shot himself in the head live on t.v. back in the day. Snake Oil Charmer has a story telling vibe with the typical Mudhoney twist. Great riff and lyrics. This ep is a sign of the times. Filled with wah wah and fuzz.it ends with One Bad Actor, the single released. A slow stonery groovetastic fuzz fest.

This is a phenomenal release by Mudhoney. Even after all these years, they're still the same band. A contender for album of the year.

Atollo13 Scimmie Di Mare album review

Scimmie Di Mare is the latest full length release from Italian Surf band Atollo13, and it is fun from the moment it starts to the end. Reminiscent of The Eliminators and the Blue Stingrays and The Shadows, there's some groovy and gnarly tunes here that you can dig unless you're a square. Trappistone is the beginning intro, complete with the old vox keyboard and reverb drenched fender guitars in all their Cali sun glory. Such great musicianship here. Linda Linda the first song with vocals, they sing in Italian, but it sounds right. It's a wonderful song. It's crazy to hear perfect top notch surf music with Italian lyrics, but I must say it's better than alot of stuff around today. It sounds fresh out of a pier in the early 60s. Sea Monkeys starts off with discord and a psychedelic moment before grooving into a beautiful dance tune. Any record that encourages fun, or dancing is a good one. Dead Witches-Ouija (2017) review

Dead Witches are an amazing, crushingly heavy, psychedelic, stoner doom band. With legend drummer Mark Greening(Ex Electric Wizard, With The Dead, Ramessess) along with vocalist Virginia Monti(Psychedelic Witchcraft), Carl Geary on bass, and Greg Elk on guitar, sadly Elk passed away in 2016. The album is absolutely superb, definitely one of the best records of the year. The production is amazing, the songs are great, and the fucking riffs are orgasms for the ears. The album starts off with the sound of rain, and a storm, and a haunting bass riff, followed with some organ and guitar feedback, setting a very dark mood. and moves into the song Dead, which starts off with a fantastic, fuzzy riff, and the drums kick in, and this song rides on the groove of this riff, building and building, as Virginia opens her beautiful, haunting vocals, its very powerful. Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats-The Night Creeper review

The Night Creeper, by Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats, is their third record, and it shows them progressing. And its fucking fantastic. It has the riffs and vibes of Black Sabbath, with haunting vocals, and a sense of melody that most Stoner Doom Metal bands lack. There are hooks, and dark vibes. It's incindiary. And if anybody doubts their legitimacy, they opened for Black Sabbath on the UK leg of their last tour, which in Doom, that's a hell of a endorsement. They don't copy Sabbath, they put their own dark, melodic spin on the genre. This record is absolutely phenomenal, dark, abysmal, eerie, and filled with incredible freakin riffs. With lyrics that are reminscent of old school b movie horror films, they create an atmosphere that literally makes you feel like you are walking down a dark alley in the cold English rain.
