Surf Zombies Return Of The Skeleton Review

Hailing from Iowa, Surf Zombies deliver gnarly waves, sun, sand, and fun sonically. Guitars soaked in reverb and full on energy. Return Of The Skeleton is a great fun record.

Starstorm starts us off with a vibe that mixes Agent Orange with The Eliminators. Fuzzy rhythm with the reverb drenched leads. Its a bit dark though. Frank & The sharks has a element of The Shadows. Its beautiful. sublime. Return Of The Skeleton starts off with a creepy slide down the neck of reverb filled horror scooby doo chase style music. Its done perfectly. They make it real instwad of corny. They capture a dark surf vibe. Rougue Wave has a great opening riff. The rhythm chymes in with power chords to create a groove and builds into what sounds like the great Cthulu of waves set to destroy any surfer in it's path. These dudes are The Misfits of instrumental surf music. Top fucking notch.
Slingshot is another happy arousing number. It evokes fun and sunlight. The duality of their sound is really a show of true musicianship.Hungry Eye starts with a bendy almost rockabilly riff with the hard surf vibe. It grabs you and makes you bounce around in a fun way. The cascading guitars and devil surf rhythm infects you no matter how cool you think you are. White Go Go Boots has a kinda mysterious, seductive vibe. Very dark, a witchy woman puts you under her spell. The grooves and riffs are just fantastic. Almost mod like. Twilight Cove is a softer number with a soft rhythm where its a 50s doo wop style rhythmically with a reverb drenched guitar cascading overvtop, The Shadows come to mind again. Sublime. Saturn Valley has a punky almost riff that leads us back into fun dance mode shimmying in the sun with a beer and no cares. Hardly Dangerson has a great dark flamanco sounding vibe to it. But it leads to fun and wonderful guitar work.it breaks back down to a melancholic dark passage with both guitars harmonizing and the drums slowly bring it back up. Wonderful. Moonside sounds very dark and kinda trippy. Like dancing in a graveyard with witches around a fire. Astounding vibes these dudes put out.
Gorilla Fight starts off with the sounds of a gorilla pissed off and it has probably the best riff on the album. It's intense as fuck. It makes you wanna break shit. The Dudeler is not only an awesome song title, its a great tune with a wonderful groove. Skip Sandwich is another great title and a a great almost reggae surf tune. Wildman ends the album withva very awesome groove man. Totally psychedelic. This album is just an incredible dark surf album. Its fun and laid back, but if you listen they are some of tbe best mysicians out there by far.

Atollo13 Scimmie Di Mare album review

Scimmie Di Mare is the latest full length release from Italian Surf band Atollo13, and it is fun from the moment it starts to the end. Reminiscent of The Eliminators and the Blue Stingrays and The Shadows, there's some groovy and gnarly tunes here that you can dig unless you're a square. Trappistone is the beginning intro, complete with the old vox keyboard and reverb drenched fender guitars in all their Cali sun glory. Such great musicianship here. Linda Linda the first song with vocals, they sing in Italian, but it sounds right. It's a wonderful song. It's crazy to hear perfect top notch surf music with Italian lyrics, but I must say it's better than alot of stuff around today. It sounds fresh out of a pier in the early 60s. Sea Monkeys starts off with discord and a psychedelic moment before grooving into a beautiful dance tune. Any record that encourages fun, or dancing is a good one. These guys completely have it nailed down and tight. I did not w...

Dead Witches-Ouija (2017) review

Dead Witches are an amazing, crushingly heavy, psychedelic, stoner doom band. With legend drummer Mark Greening(Ex Electric Wizard, With The Dead,  Ramessess) along with vocalist Virginia Monti(Psychedelic Witchcraft), Carl Geary on bass, and Greg Elk on guitar, sadly Elk passed away in 2016. The album is absolutely superb, definitely one of the best records of the year. The production is amazing, the songs are great, and the fucking riffs are orgasms for the ears. The album starts off with the sound of rain, and a storm, and a haunting bass riff, followed with some organ and guitar feedback, setting a very dark mood. and moves into the song Dead, which starts off with a fantastic, fuzzy riff, and the drums kick in, and this song rides on the groove of this riff, building and building, as Virginia opens her beautiful, haunting vocals, its very powerful. It sucks you into the dark vortex to hell, dragging you numbed from dopesmoke. How metal is that? It's nice to hear Mark bashin...

Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats-The Night Creeper review

The Night Creeper, by Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats, is their third record, and it shows them progressing. And its fucking  fantastic. It has the riffs and vibes of Black Sabbath, with haunting vocals, and a sense of melody that most  Stoner Doom Metal bands lack. There are hooks, and dark vibes. It's incindiary. And if anybody doubts their legitimacy, they opened  for Black Sabbath on the UK leg of their last tour, which in Doom, that's a hell of a endorsement. They don't copy Sabbath,  they put their own dark, melodic spin on the genre. This record is absolutely phenomenal, dark, abysmal, eerie, and filled with incredible freakin riffs. With lyrics that are reminscent of old school b movie horror films, they create an atmosphere that literally makes you feel like you  are walking down a dark alley in the cold English rain. With songs like Waiting For Blood, Pusher Man, and the title track,   slow, sludgeing Sabbath-esgue riffs, Iron Maiden like gu...
