Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats-Wasteland album review

Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats followup to Night creeper is here, in the form of Wasteland, a story of a Dystopian nightmare.

I See Through You starts out with a intro with sirens and an eerie voice on a megaphone and builds up into this groovy dark psychedelic Sabbath groove. Gives ya a chill up the spine. ‘Somebody switch the oxygen off and take their games away’ as an opening line, speaking of the beginning of a doomed world. Sounds familiar, eh?

Shockwave City has a great opening riff, and moves onto a brilliant groove. Such sinister vibes, painting a movie in your head like their albums usually do, ‘into the dark lands we fall, to an empty grave that's waiting they have their chains on us all behind the walls of Shockwave City. ‘ the solo is like Iron Maiden meets Black Sabbath, and ends with the chorus leading into a jammy solo to fade out. Slight early kiss vibe.

No Return is pure dark bluesy Doom with fuzz and a groove, and some eerie organ keys going. It builds up like an orgasm into a monster of a riff. ‘Come taste the darkness fullfill the urge our sky is starless as we hear the dirge, ‘ post apocalypse hell hole. This is eerie because to be honest, we don't feel that far from it. There's a break with some impromptu jams, and goes into an almost electric wizard circa dopethrone kinda riff. Absolutely amazing. Ends with eerie TV channels constantly switching and radio signals going back and fourth, and a funeral organ playing.

Blood Runner begins with air raid sirens, and explodes into a heavy psychedelic Iron Maiden type song. Holy fucking shit this is fucking great. The harmonies and riffs, the raw analog production, and the intensity of the performances captured on this record do not disappoint in the least. The solo is a great one by Kevin Stars, singer and lead guitarist and main songwriter. Fucking insane.

Side 2 starts off with a punky psychedelic tune called Stranger Tonight. ‘your neck is warm to touch, if i squeeze a little too much, cuts off your blood and brain until you're like everyone. ‘ fucking incindiary. This song is seriously like 60s garage horror punk in a way. Uncle Acid never dissapoints.

Wasteland begins with a synth with a despondent buzz and an acoustic comes out and lyrics about the end of mankind it seems. Beautiful, yet eerie. Sounds of winds and water crashing throughout make the atmosphere perfect. ‘Four horsemen arrived at daybreak as the sky up ahead turned black the cold and the rain cut through them but they knew they'd never come back. ‘ Almost  Pink Floydian in a way. Rest of the band comes in and it sounds like 60s Era Floyd gone evil. Phenomenal tune.

Bedouin begins with fuzzy guitar fading in, and  it's a psychedelic Iron Maiden Black Sabbath orgy musically. Great song with great riffs and great vibes. Dark, sinister,  satanic vibes with dopesmoke permeating over a graveyard.
The final track Exodus closes the record with a hypnotic, vibey, psychedelic, prog kinda vibe. Lyrics depicting a guy who saw the shit that went down and he ran and watched from afar, watching everyone else become controlled, manipulated, and exterminated.

This is yet another phenomenal record from Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats, always bringing a story that's relatable, and not chasing their own tales artistically either. Phenomenal and fitting for the world we live in, and if we're not careful, where it will lead.

Sadartha Growth EP Review

Sadartha's third release is the ep Growth. With slightly better production than the last two albums, the band drops most of the hardcore punk influences going for a pure grunge sound. Opening track Emptifull has a sweet groove in the verse and explodes on the chorus. The band seems to have found their footing hear. Jangly muddy guitars, pulsating bass, and frantic but precise drums. Is it 1992 again? Aconitum starts with a watery sounding guitar riff. So slow and vibey. This is like Nirvana's Nevermind meets Alice In Chain's Jar Of Flies. So dark, so sublime.  Eclipsing Binaries sounds upbeat.a lazy day with a joint in the sun with nothing to do is what comes to mind. Really good song. Nice melodies. These dudes are definitely on the rise and just get better. Sacred Scorcher has such an awesome groove. Hearing a little Mudhoney influence here. Then the guitars distort and it's a train barrelling down the tracks at 110 mph on fire. It's fucking great.  ...

Dead Witches-Ouija (2017) review

Dead Witches are an amazing, crushingly heavy, psychedelic, stoner doom band. With legend drummer Mark Greening(Ex Electric Wizard, With The Dead,  Ramessess) along with vocalist Virginia Monti(Psychedelic Witchcraft), Carl Geary on bass, and Greg Elk on guitar, sadly Elk passed away in 2016. The album is absolutely superb, definitely one of the best records of the year. The production is amazing, the songs are great, and the fucking riffs are orgasms for the ears. The album starts off with the sound of rain, and a storm, and a haunting bass riff, followed with some organ and guitar feedback, setting a very dark mood. and moves into the song Dead, which starts off with a fantastic, fuzzy riff, and the drums kick in, and this song rides on the groove of this riff, building and building, as Virginia opens her beautiful, haunting vocals, its very powerful. It sucks you into the dark vortex to hell, dragging you numbed from dopesmoke. How metal is that? It's nice to hear Mark bashin...

Shadow Show Silhouettes Review

Shadow Show is a Psychedelic power trio from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Fantastic, cosmic music with spacey vocal harmonies. Their debut album Silhouettes is a fine example of very good modern psych, with ten solid tracks. So tight it sounds and feels loose. The album starts off with the single and video Charades, somewhere between a rockin Byrd’s meets mid 60’s Beatles vibe with a bit of Syd Barrett Pink Floyd and that slight punk sneer. Very catchy, very trippy, very groovy. Contessa has a 60s meets 90s grunge kinda vibe to it, and has backing vocals akin to the Monkees, nice touch. These girls don’t sound like anyone else around, and best of all, the guitar is so fuzzy! Green Stone is one of the stronger songs on the album, going into some Rolling Stones and Yardbirds type vibes, total mid 60s psychedelia. The Alchemist is like Uncle Acid without the distortion and sped up a bit. A layer of acoustic guitar and just an incredible hazy vibe like the inside of an enchanted fores...
