Onset Unstructured Dissemination Review

Onset is an Atmospheric Funeral Doom band, a two piece from Singapore. Their EP Unstructured Dissemination is an instrumental masterpiece, haunting and brooding. The soundtrack to the abyss. Brings to mind cold medieval burials.

Permeation The Ordeal starts off with eerie synth slowly building, setting the mood, and it's desolate. It builds up and the guitars and everything come in. Very cosmic and hypnotizing in a way. It is quite incredible, with funereal beauty. Echoes of past lives seep through your subconscious as you listen and bask in the dark tranquility of your mind floating through the river of ain. Incredible work. This doesn't need words.

Pestis: The Suppressing & Recurrence starts with a drum roll and goes into a motherfucker of a riff and has a layer right underneath that has ghostly like sounds. It almost sounds like a demon whispering to you right underneath the riffs. This ep is absolutely amazing. Stunning and stellar craftsmanship in music, and creating auras. This is an incredible piece of work. Absolute melancholic allure.

Sunn0)) Life Metal Review

Sunn0)) is either band you love or hate, and their latest album Life Metal is pure droney goodness. The empowering yet dark ambient vibes suck your soul and stir it around through these four long epic pieces of pure sonic art. Reclrded and mixed by Steve Albini, their eighth record is pure drone. And an album title that is a contrast to 'doom and gloom', one of my favourite albums this year. This album has a maternal twin album coming called Pyroclasts soon. Between Sleipnir's Breaths starts off the journey. Haunting vocals by Hildur Guðnadóttir, fantastic. Life Metal comparatively more upbeat tone with brightness and a symphonic vibe compared to the rest of Sunn O)))'s discography that stems in part from Anderson and O'Malley being content with their personal and creative lives. Its still fucking heavy mind you, just less hopelessness. Troubled Air comes next on this journey of ambience. You can feel the morning sun peeking through dark ancient clouds. Won...

Sadartha Growth EP Review

Sadartha's third release is the ep Growth. With slightly better production than the last two albums, the band drops most of the hardcore punk influences going for a pure grunge sound. Opening track Emptifull has a sweet groove in the verse and explodes on the chorus. The band seems to have found their footing hear. Jangly muddy guitars, pulsating bass, and frantic but precise drums. Is it 1992 again? Aconitum starts with a watery sounding guitar riff. So slow and vibey. This is like Nirvana's Nevermind meets Alice In Chain's Jar Of Flies. So dark, so sublime. Eclipsing Binaries sounds upbeat.a lazy day with a joint in the sun with nothing to do is what comes to mind. Really good song. Nice melodies. These dudes are definitely on the rise and just get better. Sacred Scorcher has such an awesome groove. Hearing a little Mudhoney influence here. Then the guitars distort and it's a train barrelling down the tracks at 110 mph on fire. It's fucking great. ...

Quiet Riot Hollywood Cowboys review

Quiet Riot's latest album Hollywood Cowboys is a fantastic old school melodic hard rock album, something the band has always done excruciatingly well no matter who was in the band. The riffs, the hooks, it'll drive ya mad. The album kicks off with the awesome riff of Don't' Call It Love, a pure sleazy rocker. James vocals are great, I never understood the hate. Killer. Next up is In The Blood, with an awesome groove. Very vibey. Very AOR. Not a bad thing. It picks up for an epic, powerful chorus. Very vampyric. The band itself is on fire. Just energetic and fun to the bone. As it should be. Heartbreak City is pure 80s hard rock. Has a groove similar to Deep Purple. A hook out of this world. Definitely sleazy. The Devil That You Know is a fast paced rocker, galloping like a wild steed while your getting shot at. And yet still has amazing hooks.
